Laura walked in to work on Friday and said, "I think we should have a teen reading group this summer. I'm fired up to get one going." Using a great idea as a greeting instead of blandly traditional phrases is something more people should try. Needless to say we got right on that and The DDG Teen Summer Reading Group is set to
launch on June 19th at 6:30 pm for a title selection meeting. Ingredients include...
☛ The summer’s hottest reads
☛ Discussions led by group members
☛ A chance to talk about books in a social setting, without being graded on what you are saying
☛ 10% discount on all book group titles.
I know what you're thinking. Are these people such ungallant coxcombs as as to not provide a summer reading program for 5-12 year olds? The DDG conscience is clean on that score because we are excited to announce The DDG "Spread The Word" K-6 Summer Reading Program. The idea here is for young readers to share their opinions with each other on books they are reading over the summer by filling out DDG Review Slips which will be used in bookstore displays. There will be weekly prize drawings, a $5.00 gift certificate for anyone who hands in 6 slips or more, and
A Spread The Word party in August. We're particularly excited to be partnering this reading program with the W.G. Mallett School and Cascade Brook School. Check the flyer or stop by for more information.
Here they are! Our weekly picks for the two best: two hardcover, two paperback, and two children's books. The very best new arrivals to leap out of the box and onto our shelves this week. Call or email us if you want more information on any of these titles, or to have us hold you a copy. Or stop in and check them out in person. We'd love to see you. Thanks as always for sharing your reading with us!
