We all have our own version of collecting acorns for the coming winter. New England Independent Children's Book Specialists, for example, review advance readers of Fall releases, sifting through our stacks looking for outstanding new titles. The result is both the venerable NECBA Galley Review Project, and the enchanting NECBA Fall Top Ten Plus. You can access the full project from the Top Ten Page. Have a look, you're sure to find something intriguing.
At the store, we've been collecting some great new items for the Holidays. One thing we're excited about is our new line of eeBooo family games. These are Oppenheimer Best Toy Award winners made with no plastics and with 75% -90% recycled materials. eeBooo hires outstanding children's book illustrators to do their artwork, which really makes well-designed games like Robot Explorers, Tea Party, Slips and Ladders, Animal Bingo, and I Never Forget a Face, come to life. Another new eeBooo item is the Good Manners Flash Cards which I tried out on Amy.

Flash Card: What is the first thing you should do when you sit down at the table?
Correct Answer: Remember to put your napkin on your lap.
Amy's Answer: Belch loudly to let people know you're hungry.
Amy's Real Answer: You should unfold your napkin and put it on your lap.
Flash Card: When you hurt someone's feelings what do you say?
Correct Answer: I'm sorry.
Amy's Answer: Psyche!
Amy's Real Answer: I'm sorry.

Hmmn. Apparently there really is a big need for some of us to read through these cards. Stop by the store and check them out!

Now here they are! Our weekly picks for the two best: two hardcover, two paperback, and two children's books. The very best new arrivals to leap out of the box and onto our shelves this week. Call or email us if you want more information on any of these titles, or to have us hold you a copy. Or stop in and check them out in person. We'd love to see you. Thanks as always for sharing your reading with us!
