March 30th, 2010

Our purpose this week is to answer two burning questions. First, people have been stopping in all month doing one of two things, either praising the newspaper-themed window display, or asking what the window means. One possible answer is that the genius of its designer, Melanie Taylor, is a deep and inscrutable sort of genius, one whose work we can all see is amazing, but whose deeper meaning we can only ponder.

The second question concerns our new Frequent Buyer's Program, The Baker's Dozen. Have we finished testing it yet, and is it ready to launch? The answer is yes! The way the program works is that the average price of your last 12 purchases becomes a gift certificate in that amount. For example if the average price of your last 12 purchases was $20.00 you would receive a $20.00 certificate to apply to your 13th purchase. As you can see there were a few bugs to be worked out in the testing process but that's all been squared away. The nice thing is that our new system will keep track of the math and generate your benefits automatically, all you need to do to is just hit this link and add your name and phone number to sign up or just stop by the store.

Some weeks certain genres just seem to shine, and this is the week of Young Adult and Middle Grade Fiction!  Call or email us if you want more information on any of these titles, or to have us hold you a copy. Or stop in and check them out in person. We'd love to see you. Thanks as always for sharing your reading with us!

When Amy read this book as a galley she made the following remarks... "What a fun read! All my favorite elements are here: siblings who stick together, a strong sense of community and place, innovative problem solving, and an appreciation for the good things in life (a bike ride, dinner with friends, satisfaction taken in an honest day's work, self-expression through art). And that's not to mention the deftly imagined gasoline shortage that has turned highways into bike paths. Though I love winter, this book has me looking forward to the first spring day I can roll my bike out into the sun for a ride. I look forward just as much to sharing this book with our customers." ...More
